Photokina is the world’s largest tradeshow for the photographic and imaging industries,
happening every 2 years in Cologne, Germany, with over 160,000 visitors and almost 1,500
exhibitors in 2008. Having established a level of trust with our Kodak client due to the success
of their booth at Photokina 2006, I coordinated the efforts of multiple teams (exhibit designers,
graphic designers, and a production company) to provide Kodak with a massive multimedia
installation, imaginative photo sets, product demonstration environments and on-brand booth
design that helped attract attendees and keep them engaged with Kodak products.

As the design team at Mirror Show Management grew, this expansion called for some design consideration. I was asked by the owners of the company to come up with a design that showed off “Creative”, while keeping a diverse group of designers happy in a new, open environment. The result was a unique space with angled ceiling and large skylights, furniture by Herman Miller, and bright versions of MSM’s corporate colors decorating the walls. In the process of choosing sources and suppliers, I put together a Design Resource Library, which is still in use and growing years later. The space became a highlight on building tours, always eliciting a positive reaction.
